Frequently Asked Questions

Vocational Training Orders (VTOs)

Q1 ) Will Vocational Training Orders (VTOs) still exist under the new Act? How have they changed?

A1 ) Yes. VTOs remain as a statutory mechanism for establishing approved training requirements for apprenticeships and traineeships. However VTOs now provide increased flexibilities for training arrangements for example they may include probationary periods for each recognised traineeship and apprenticeship and the conditions where the term of an apprenticeship or traineeship may be varied can also be specified.

Refer to the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001 Part 2, Section 6 (1) a,b,c,d & e.
