Frequently Asked Questions

Industrial Arrangements

Q1 ) Trainees were employed previously under the Nurseries Employees State Award. I believe they now come under the AWU Training Wage (State) Award. Is this correct?

A1 ) Enquiries about State industrial award matters should be directed to the NSW Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) on 13 16 28 or your relevant employer/employee industrial association. Some indicative information about industrial arrangements is on the Department of Education and Training's (DET's) website

General award information is available from websites ie,

NSW (State) industrial awards
Phone: 13 16 28

Federal industrial awards
Phone: 1300 363 264

However, specific enquiries should always be made to the appropriate industrial authority or industry association.

While DET points people in the right direction and assists with information on industrial relations aspects of apprenticeships or traineeships, it is not appropriate that DET provides definitive advice about the currency of or appropriateness of award coverage and progress on new awards.

For enquiries concerning general industrial relations information or awards please see above links.
