Part Time Traineeship Provisions (Not School Based)
Issued: 3 December 2008
Part time employment generally
refers to a person employed on
permanent arrangement for less than the full-time weekly
hours of work provided for in an industrial instrument.
A part time traineeship will only be approved
where there are appropriate industrial
arrangements in place to support it.
The training contract
for a part time traineeship must be for a defined
term which is based on the weekly hours of employment
and training per week and the nominal term of the traineeship
as specified in the relevant Vocational training Order.
For calculation of the term see http://apprenticeship.det.nsw.edu.au/html/advins/ats08031.htm
A person undertaking a part time traineeship
must be offered regular employment
and training each week for the duration of
the traineeship.
The number
of hours of work and training per week as specified
in the training contract must be at least 15
hours and could be averaged over a four week period for the
duration of the
traineeship.
